A FIRE caused an estimated $20,000 damage to the Zambrero restaurant in Erindale Centre and an evacuation of the centre today.
Police say a damaged light fitting in the restaurant released smoke through the air conditioning unit and roof space of the centre, resulting in firefighters evacuating the Erindale Centre as crews conducted air monitoring and ventilation operations.
Three fire pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van and the specialist Hazardous Materials Unit were on the scene.
An ambulance crew also attended, with no injuries reported.
