Blues star plays the Abbey

THE Abbey function centre in Nicholls is experiencing something of  a musical renaissance right now, with top national and international artists taking the stage throughout the chilly months.

Next up is guitarist and singer-songwriter Ray Beadle, one of Australia’s hottest blues  specialists,  but also a dab hand at dance music,  R&B and gospel.

A former winner of Sydney Blues Society’s Australian Blues Music Performer of the Year, Beadle has been a musician since age nine.

For around 20 years, he  performed and recorded with the Foreday Riders, but stepped into the limelight after doing  a three month residency with the house band in BB King’s Club in Memphis and Buddy Guy’s Blues Club in Chicago.

Beadle  is a popular figure at blues festivals in Australia and at Southern Blues festivals in the US and Ray Beadle Band’s  newest album is  “Spellbound”.

Ray Beadle, at The Abbey, O’Hanlon Place, Nichols, 8pm, Friday, July 13, Bookings to 6230 2905. Show Only, $25; Dinner & Show $65.
