Bonner house wins affordable award

RAM Constructions is the winner of the 2012 Chief Minister’s Affordable Housing Award for a house at 27 William Cooper Avenue, Bonner.

Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said the winning entry demonstrated that it was within the capacity of the local industry to design and build attractive and affordable homes.

“This two-storey home is architect designed and has great ‘street appeal’,” she said. “It compares very well with more expensive homes.

“It is encouraging that there are so many building companies that share the Government’s aim of ensuring all Canberrans have access to diverse and affordable housing.

“That’s why we launched the Affordable Housing Action Plan in 2007, and why we have recently announced Phase III to build on the initiatives of our earlier plans. This has been one of the

Government’s key priorities over the past 12 months.”
