Buchanan wins pre-Olympic BMX races

CANBERRA BMX legend Caroline Buchanan has won her final race in Utah and says her next race will be at the Olympic Games in London.

Buchanan won both of the USA BMX races in Salt Lake City and says she was lucky not to get mixed up in a crash that involved the US Olympic rider, Alise Post and Aussie team mate, Lauren Reynolds.

“It’s been good racing which has worked out as a top training session,” said Buchanan.

“There were some tough competitors out there and, even without Alise (Post) racing on the last day, the other girls were very good competition.”

Team mates, Lauren Reynolds finished in sixth place while Sam Willoughby won the men’s AA Pro final.

Tomorrow Buchanan will collect the bike frame and parts that will be set up as her Olympic bike on her return to

Australia.

“It will be like Christmas getting all my bike gear,” said Buchanan. “All I know, is that they have made it bright green!”
