BURRA artist, Sharon Field, has been selected as one of a number of artists to receive a 2013 Artist in Residence place at the Boyd property, Bundanon, situated on 1100 hectares of bush and farm land on the Shoalhaven River.

It has been a critical year for Field, who  won the $2000 Queanbeyan City Council Regional Art Award for her graphite drawing on paper titled “Pods in Space – The Queanbeyan Kurrajong” and  later, the Wildlife and Botanical Artists Inc’s “Best in Show” Award.

Gifted to the Australian people in 1993 by Arthur and Yvonne Boyd, Bundanon supports professional artists’ practice, across all disciplines and at all stages in their career by fostering artists, producers, directors, poet, novelists, curators and educators engaged in research and development.

The property  and its present use illustrate Boyd’s  belief that “you can’t own a landscape” and the deeply-felt wish that others might also draw inspiration from Bundanon.

As well as caring for a collection of more than 4000 artworks and objects the Bundanon Trust supports the development of arts practice across all disciplines through its artist in residence program.

Whilst at Bundanon, Sharon Field proposes to draw a series of cameos of botanical subjects (in graphite and watercolour, on paper and vellum) that capture the fleeting nature (the “impression”) of plants in their lives on our planet.
