Buyers show interest in DFO

BUYERS have already expressed a keen interest in the sale of Direct Factory Outlets Canberra and the Homemaker Hub, according to McGrathNicol partner Shane O’Keeffe.

Direct Factory Outlets Proprietary Limited’s Canberra DFO and Homemaker Hub went into the receivership of McGrathNicol on Wednesday afternoon due to the company facing too much debt. The formal process won’t start until next week when expressions of interest open and an agent is assigned to the sale.

“There has been already a number of companies interested in the centre,” Mr O’Keeffe said. “I can’t say who at this stage.”

Mr O’Keefe who described Canberra DFO as a “very good asset”, said the centre had been very profitable.

He said the shopping centre would continue to operate to their standard trading hours and tenants would not be affected by the sale.

“The value [of the centre] is in the tenants already there,” he said. “And the new owner will hopefully put more tenants into the centre.”

Mr O’Keefe said the sale of the shopping centre could take up to six months.
