Canberra bashing: what does our youth think?

CANBERRA’S copped criticism from Hollywood stars and talk show hosts but what do our youth think?

The Youth Coalition of the ACT,  the peak body for youth affairs and young people aged 12 to 25 years in the ACT, has launched a survey to find out what it’s like for young people to live in Canberra.

“What is unique about this survey is that it will allow us to build a more detailed picture of what Canberra means to young people,’ said Emma Robertson, director of the Youth Coalition.

“But more specifically, what it is like to live in Gungahlin compared with Belconnen, and other regions in the ACT.

“In addition to looking at experiences, issues and concerns; we will be asking young people about their living circumstances, participation in social and recreational activities and even what their primary mode of transport is.

“We are asking all young people aged 12 – 25 years who live, work or go to school in the ACT to help us by completing the survey, to inform us in our advocacy and representation work.”

The survey’s launch coincides with National Youth Week, from today to April 22. The survey will run from now until June and young people who take part will go into the draw to win prizes, including an iPad.
