Canberra kids shine through imaginative art

Astrid Simmons (age 7), “African Elephant”
CANBERRA’S pre and primary school students are about to show off their most imaginative works.

“My Favourite” is the title of ANCA Gallery’s fourth annual exhibition showcasing school students’ art, with 50 diverse artworks representing children aged 4 to 12.

Every pre and primary school in Canberra was invited to participate in the themed exhibition, produced at no cost to schools or families.

This year’s theme, “My Favourite,” has proved fruitful for the young artists, who used a variety of “weird and wonderful” media, including paint, glitter and corn syrup.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Chris Dixon from sponsor McGrath Estate Agents on Wednesday, August 15 at 6pm. The opening will feature lucky door prizes and live music and visitors will be invited to vote in a People’s Choice Award. All are welcome.

“My Favourite,” at ANCA Gallery,1 Rosevear Place, Dickson, August 15-26, 12pm-5pm, Wednesday-Sunday.

Joel Kinder (age 10), “Ford ute in sunset”
Morgan Pulley (age 7), “Penguin Club”
