CANBERRA is leading the country at using Twitter with about 38,000 people claiming to own a Twitter account, says Grey Canberra.
According to Grey’s recent social media monitor, about 13.7 per cent of Canberra residents use Twitter, compared to less than 10 per cent else where.
The report also showed, 73 per cent of the ACT’s Twitter users access their stream at least weekly while 18 per cent – more than 6,500 Canberra residents – use it daily.
Canberra’s biggest group of active users are in the 35-49 age group – an older core group than anywhere else. But the fastest growing age group is 18-24.
According to the report, 40.7 per cent of Canberra users said they saw Twitter as an important way for them to stay in touch with news and information.
Grey Canberra said a study released last year found that Canberrans had the most negative tweets of all Australian cities.
