Canberra star on her way to LA

Lauren Hamilton Neill.
GOOD news for local actor Lauren Hamilton Neill, who has been accepted into the Professional Actors Masterclass series in Los Angeles, on the basis of her performance in “Finding Eric”, a short film made in Canberra.

The film, co-directed by Robert Coppa and Scott Maybury of Red Bandit Productions, is touring the European film festival circuit and stars Hamilton Neill and Ben Ryan.

“From the first moments of her audition, we realised she was an amazing talent,” Maybury commented.

After presenting a showreel that highlighted the film, Hamilton Neill was told to pack her bags.

In LA she will work with US casting directors, including heads of networks and studios and independent casting directors who include Lisa Beach (“Wedding Crashers”, “ Walk the Line”), Cathy Sandrich (“The Vow”, “The Proposal”) and Matthew Barry (“Con Air”, “Rush Hour”).

Meantime, “Finding Eric” has been accepted for official competition in four European festivals and will soon be seen by audiences in 19 cities spanning nine countries across four continents.

“We intend bringing the film home later in the year so local audiences can see it,” said the film’s producer Pattie Collins.

Hi Helen
Nice piece on Lauren. I was AD on Finding Eric and saw Lauren’s acting talent emerge. I would echo Scott’s recommendation of her.

Just fyi, I am the creator of a sci-fi graphic novel titled Drago Bentley: Space Detective which is Canberra’s first sci-fi noir graphic novel of its kind. Drago Bentley: Space Detective tells the story of a gifted 22nd Century Private Investigator, Drago Bentley, who is made blind when his optical implants are switched off for not paying his loan repayments, is forced to reanimate his hated android to help solve a case of a missing billionaire. In the process, he uncovers a militant group of androids fighting for emancipation and an evil Senator hell-bent on controlling the world.

At present, I am six chapters into an eight chapter novel and would like to increase my readership and fan-base to get me across the line and finish the project. I have produced two motion comics of the first two chapters and would like to complete another six motion comics into a feature length motion comic animation.

I’d be grateful for an interview, should you be interested in knowing more about me and my works.

Thanks in advance.
Joe

I was extremely lucky to have been a part of this film. I was very humbled by the skill and passion of the people I got to work with. Thank you all so much.
