Carman’s tales in song for Folk Festival

LAST year “CityNews” published a story about multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter, Susanna Carman’s use of the creative process and song writing to remain positive in the face of tragedy.

Now Carman is coming to the National Folk Festival, where she’ll be showcasing her new album, “Circus Girl”, which one critic says “hints at a bit of Fleetwood Mac via Dixie Chick skip”.

The US-born singer-songwriter, who now lives in Australia,  will be offering a show combining original songs with her own amusing and poignant brand of storytelling. Carman says her songs and stories take audiences, young and old,  on an interactive journey that includes “travelogue, tragedy, tears and a few full-bellied laughs”.

Susan Carman, at the National Folk Festival. Flute and Fiddle,  Friday, April 6 at 2pm;  Sunday, April 8 at 2.50pm; and Monday, April 9 at 5.40pm. Tickets at gate, Exhibition Park.
