Open Day is coming up at the Australian-German Institute, Das Zentrum, a bi-lingual cultural community organisation providing a library and information service for the Canberra community where the emphasis is on German language.
Das Zentrum offers a range of classic literature in German and English, modern German novels, German magazines, movies on DVD in German with and without English subtitles, reference and information material, talks and social functions and German language courses by native speakers.
During its Open Day, there’ll be a book give-away, short poetry readings in German and English, talks and presentations and a chance to chat with the centre’s German language teachers over coffee and home-baked cake.
After that, there will be a screening of a family film in German, “Küssmich, Frosch” (“Kiss me Frog”) in German, with English subtitles. This recent movie takes off where the Grimm fairy tale “The Frog Prince” finishes.
Das Zentrum Open Day, First Floor, Griffin Centre, Genge Street, Civic, Saturday, from 12.30pm to 2pm August 18. Family film Screening, 2.30pm.
