On loan from the artist
Opened by Centenary of Canberra creative director, Robyn Archer, the exhibition showcases an ongoing portrait project by Sydney photographer Ingvar Kenne.

The exhibition comprises 27 portraits taken in Australia, China, Laos, Papua New Guinea and the United States of America, with the composition of the photographs deliberately made “equal” to create a sense of our “fellow man.”

Kenne was born in Sweden in 1965 and has been based in Australia since 1996. The NPG holds three works by Kenne, who was also the winner of the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2009 and also a finalist in the 2007, 2010 and 2012 prizes.

A book, available for purchase, has been produced by the artist with publishers Au.Thentic Press to document the project.

Ingvar Kenne,  “Citizen,” at the National Portrait Gallery, King Edward Terrace, Parkes Gallery until January 27.
