Civic’s winter wonderland returns

THE open air ice rink is back! After the success of last year’s Skate in the City, Canberra CBD Limited have again built a little winter wonderland in Garema Place with faux snow, twinkling fairy lights and the big ice skating rink.

Skate in the City is open to the public from today to Sunday, July 29 with entertainment including fashion shows, movie nights and Cultural Sundays, performances and demonstrations from Stars on Ice, the ACT Ice Skating Association and ACT Ice Hockey.

Canberra CBD Limited CEO Stephen Gregory said the rink this year has an improved design.

“We are excited to bring the rink back this year,” Mr Gregory said. “It’s a third bigger in size and we have worked hard to improve the design as well as the entertainment that will be on show for everyone to enjoy. There is now a special children’s area as well.”

“We have incorporated feedback from last year’s event to ensure Canberrans continue to enjoy this unique winter experience. This year there is again a lot on offer and Cultural Sundays will bring something new and fresh to the capital.”
