Colour and movement, the festival is launched

THE National Multicultural Festival was officially launched today with Latin dance and African drums.

About 200,000 people are expected to attend the three-day festival that opens on Friday with a concert headlined by Anthony Callea.

The festival’s biggest event, Saturday’s Food and Dance Spectacular will this year feature a record 330 stalls.

Sunday’s program will take in Greek Glendi, Chinese New Year Celebrations and the Citizens Advice Bureau ACT’s Contact Canberra event, with double the amount of stalls from last year.

A new addition to the festival is the Sanctuary Zone for parents and children, which will feature a children’s parade, activities, bike and pram parking and an adult pampering area.
