Concert cancelled because of injury

IT was difficult enough moving out of the ANU School of  Music at a troubled time, but news is that while doing so, retiring professor pianist Geoffrey Lancaster last Saturday fell and sustained injuries, including a broken dominant right hand, that will require months of rehabilitation.

Dr Lancaster
That, as organiser David Pereira has just announced, means the cancellation of tomorrow’s planned concert “David Pereira with Geoffrey Lancaster and Quintet” at the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery.

The program of works by CPE Bach, JS Bach and Francis Francoeur le Cadet was to have featured Dr Lancaster on harpsichord, Pereira and Julia Janiszewski on cello, Virginia Taylor on flute, Tobias Chisnall and Estelita Rae on violin and Rosy Davidson on viola.

“His involvement with our concert this Friday evening was absolutely integral, and so the concert is cancelled. It is very sad, in itself, but our feelings necessarily are with the damaged Geoffrey,” Pereira said.

Inquiries re. bookings to 6238 1682.

One Response to Concert cancelled because of injury

This is truly awful news about Geoffrey’s injury, to cap off a terrible year for one of Australia’s musical stars. I hope he makes a full and swift recovery.
