Dazzling organ recital

SARAH Kim is an Australian organist perhaps best known in Europe, where she is an organist at Notre-Dame-des-Vertus and St. George’s Anglican Church in Paris.

She’ll be back this weekend at one of her favourite recital venues, the Wesley Centre in Forrest, which boasts a magnificent pipe organ, restored between 2000 and 2002.

This is Kim’s 8th program at Wesley and the recital will include Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s “Sonata No. 3 Op. 65,” J S Bach’s “Trio Sonata No. 3 BWV 527,” Brahms’ chorales, Duruflé’s “Prélude et Fugue sur le nom d’Alain,” Vierne’s “Claire de lune Op. 53” and Alain’s “Trois Dances.”

A leading Australian organist and prizewinner of the Sydney, Newcastle and Paris International Organ Competitions, she has recently completed a Masters degree at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland specialising in early music, with Wolfgang Zerer and Lorenzo Ghielmi. She is also a graduate of the University of Sydney and the Paris Conservatoire.
