Deceptively simple art of David Thomas

David Thomas, from “Colour Field Paint as Light” series, “Light Blue” 2012, acrylic on panel.
YOU have until  Sunday to catch Everything Nothing Projects’ selection of recent paintings by David Thomas.

According to Ingrid Periz of “Australian Art Collector”: “Thomas’ work picks up big ideas with deceptively simple means… time, memory and duration all come into play in works which encourage a contemplative attitude on the viewer’s part.”

Across four decades, Thomas has made paintings that are spaces of reverie and projection. Each work in the 2012 series “Colour Field: Paint as Light,” ENP director David Sequeira says, is a meditation on the nature of colour, our relationship to it and its impact in the world.

Everything Nothing Projects, Level 1, Center Cinema Building, 29 Bunda Street, Civic (above Academy Nightclub), Saturday and Sunday, noon-5pm and by appointment until  August 5.
