Dress rehearsal at Lyneham High

“CITYNEWS” was so impressed by what we’d heard  of the bright young students from Ainslie School, Campbell Primary School, Lyneham Primary School, Majura Primary School, North Ainslie Primary School, O’Connor Cooperative School, Turner School, Campbell High School, Lyneham High School and Dickson College performing in the big show, “Unstoppable!” that we decided to pay a visit to the dress rehearsal this morning.

Come Together
There we found Majura Primary doing an amazing, self-devised “Bollywood Cinderella,” the boys and girls mastering the tricky  moves.

Cinderella and Prince Charming, Bollywood style
Another highlight was O’Connor Cooperative School’s take on Edward Lear’s nonsense poem  “The Quangle Wangle’s Hat,” where two beautiful recitations of the verse were accompanied by pupils holding up backlit images of many animals birds and other creatures.

Later we saw  Lyneham High School’s Year 10 Masterclass do its  version of Lennon/McCartney’s “Come Together.” It was hard to say who were the real stars – the dancers and singers or the cool guitarists in the background.

A postscript. In a move that showed the rest of the pupils how important and rhythm really is, Campbell Primary   Schoolperformed “Perpetual Rhythm Machine,” where handclapping formed a large part of the entertainment.

Perpetual Rhythm
And that was just the tip of the iceberg.

“Unstoppable!” At Lyneham Performing Arts Centre, Goodwin St Lyneham, and 6.30pm, November 2, 5, and 6. Tickets $20 from Lyneham High School front office or to 6205 6409, Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm.
