Elderly man injured and helpless for two days

AN 80-year-old man was found face down and semi-conscious on the floor of his Turner apartment yesterday afternoon, where he had lain injured and alone for two days.

Police had to use a door ram to gain entry to the apartment after the elderly man’s son, who did not have a key to the house, raised concerns for his father’s welfare.

A locksmith called to the scene earlier had been unable to gain entry as the door had been deadbolted from the inside.

The man was taken to the hospital after police found him face down on the dining room floor, weak and semi-conscious.

Police say the man had fallen heavily and was unable to rise. He had been without food or water since the fall.
