Email reveals more data ‘doctored’, says Hanson

THE ACT Opposition has called for an independent investigation into the discrepancies in emergency department data at the Canberra Hospital to be widened to include Calvary Hospital.

Health spokesperson Jeremy Hanson has come forward with an email received last week which suggest that Calvary Hospital’s emergency department data was also “doctored”.

“This raises obvious questions about just how widespread this serious issue could be, and completely justifies the need for a truly independent investigation of both hospitals,” Mr Hanson said.

In the email, date April 18, it said: “…ACT Health have Calvary Emergency Department reviewing their seen times for all their category 4 patients over the past two months in order to edit the doctor seen times and improve how the performance looks in the reports.”

“We know Katy Gallagher has form in covering up serious issues within ACT Health, as we saw with the serious bullying in obstetrics at Canberra Hospital,” Mr Hanson said.

“She has no credibility when it comes to be honest with Canberrans about the health system and a hand-picked investigator won’t suffice.

“This issue is just about as serious as it gets and only a truly independent investigation of both hospitals would help to restore the breach of trust which has occurred between Katy Gallagher and the Canberra community.”
