Fresh links to murder cold case

POLICE are reporting an apparent breakthrough on the murder of McKellar woman Irma Palasics thirteen years ago, and say a group of teenagers are of particular interest.

Irma Palasics
The elderly woman was killed on November 6, 1999 when two men forced their way into her home and savagely beat her to death before stealing cash and jewellery.

Her husband Gregor was also bashed but managed to free himself and phone police.

Police will release CCTV footage of an aggravated burglary from 2010 which they believe is linked to the murder, despite being 11 years apart.

The footage shows a group of teenagers break into the Pitch & Putt golf course in Irving St,  Phillip by charging at the metal roller door of the storage area.

Police believe one of the four young men involved in the burglary may be able to provide crucial information relating to the homicide,  and hope that those involved, or anyone who recognises them, will contact police to assist with their investigation.

Police are unable to reveal the link to the crimes at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The Palasics murder is one of six major unsolved homicides in the ACT.

Anyone who can assist should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
