Harrison school opens

HARRISON secondary school is now open.

The school, which cost the ACT Government $51.65 million to design and construct, can hold 800 students giving the Harrison School complex the capacity to fit another 1400 students from kindergarten to Year 10.

Rated five green stars for design from the Green Building Council of Australia, the new school features: onsite rainwater collection for landscape irrigation; natural cross flow ventilation; energy efficient lighting systems; and high efficiency insulation.

There is also 18 specialist learning spaces, interactive whiteboards, wireless internet and a two basketball court gymnasium that can seat 1000 people.
