A MAN was beaten by men with metal poles when he answered his front door in Mawson last night

At about 9pm, the man answered a knock and on opening his door was hit repeatedly by a group of unknown men armed with metal poles before the assailants fled on foot. The assaulted victim was this morning being assessed at Canberra Hospital.

Police are calling for witnesses. A red Ford Laser that was seen driving away at high speed from Mawson at the time of the incident is also of interest.
