HALVING the cost of stamp duty, tax cuts and a new $340 million hospital are among an array of election promises announced by the Canberra Liberals today.
Opposition Leader Zed Seselja outlined a “comprehensive plan” for the October 20 election, which aims to give Canberrans better basic services and lower rates and charges.
Key commitments include a plan to save first home buyers $11,000 by halving the cost of stamp duty for properties under $500,000, an extra $36 million for capital upgrades of Canberra’s government schools, and an abolishment of ACT Labor’s plan to triple rates for Canberra homeowners.
“Today’s commitment is an important part of the Canberra Liberals’ plan to tackle housing affordability and reduce the cost of living,” Mr Seselja said.
“It’s backed up by stamp duty cuts, expanding the Home Buyer Concession Scheme, a land bank, and taxation reform.”
