MORE than $1 million has been handed out to 50 local organisations to stage events as part of the Centenary of Canberra celebrations.
According to Chief Minister Katy Gallagher, there is one grant left to be announced, with the latest round of funding providing $395,802 for 31 projects.
This round of grants include: $30,000 to the Special Olympics ACT (SOACT) for their Canberra Centenary Special Olympics National Swim Meet; $27,148 to the Belconnen Arts Centre Incorporated for the Wind Air Water Centenary Kite Festival on Lake Ginninderra; $45,000 to The Street Theatre for their Capital Jazz Project; $30,000 to See-change for Imagining a Sustainable Canberra in 2020; and $25,000 to the Mirramu Creative Arts for The Four Elements Art Festival.
In total, 113 applications have been received, with total funding requests of $3.5 million.
“I’m delighted that so many different local organisations have been able to benefit from the Community Centenary Initiatives Fund and will be getting behind the Centenary and planning events to mark this special year,” the Chief Minister said.
