Man ‘attacks’ ambulance, police

A 21 year old man will face court this week after damaging an ambulance and attacking police trying to help on Saturday night.

It will be alleged that the ambulance with two officers on board was en route to a priority one medical emergency when they had to stop suddenly to avoid the man running onto the roadway in Holt around 6.35pm.

The man broke off the ambulance wing mirror and damaged the side panel.

The ambulance officers called for assistance and officers from Belconnen Patrol responded quickly.

The alleged offender was identified but failed to comply with police directions. The man then assaulted police and was taken into custody.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of common assault, four counts of obstructing a Territory official and a separate charge of property damage.

Neither the ambulance officers nor police were injured during the incident.
