Hume driver threatened with gun

POLICE are searching for a man who waved a car down and threatened the driver with a gun early on Sunday morning.

Around 12.25am the victim was driving his car Southbound on the Monaro Highway when a man stepped out from the tree line and flagged him down.

After he pulled his car over to the side of the road the offender allegedly approached the victim’s car and produced a handgun, demanding the man’s wallet.

The offender removed a small sum of cash from the wallet before striking the man in the side of the head twice.

At this point the offender stepped away from the car and the victim drove away from the area and contacted police.

The offender is described as African in appearance, 183cm (6’) tall, in his mid-twenties with a skinny build. He was wearing a short sleeved dark shirt with a wave motif and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone who saw a man matching the above description in the Hume area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the website www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
