MBFWA report: Corn rows are in!

TONGUES were wagging after this week’s Oroton show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and it wasn’t all about the apparel.

Models hit the runway showing Oroton’s debut collection with hair styled in corn rows.

Hair director Renya Xydis for Cloud Nine created a deconstructed and wearable take on corn rows which was gathered at the nape into a textured, low ponytail.

With a South American feel, the hair was inspired by Oroton’s main print in the collection, which features a plaited/woven style rope.

Using The Cloud Nine Wand,  $270 and The Cloud Nine Iron,  $270, both from Haircare Australia (1300 437 436), here’s how to achieve the look:

  1. Apply mousse lightly throughout the roots of the hair. Blowdry hair smooth and straighten using the iron
  2. Take a one inch section at the centre of the head, twisting from the hairline back and over the crown
  3. Continue twisting down to the nape and secure with elastic
  4. Divide remaining hair into four even sections on each side following the curve of the head, repeating step three for each
  5. Bind all twists in a ponytail, using the wand fashion to waves and movement in the hair
  6. Roughly brush through the curls just before stepping out to mess up the final look.
