New member joins NGA council

CATHERINE Harris has been appointed a board member of the National Gallery of Australia Council.

“Ms Harris is an experienced CEO and company director in the public and private sectors and an active member of a number of boards including the National Gallery of Australia Foundation,” said Arts Minister Simon Crean, who made the announcement today.

“With demonstrated business acumen, Ms Harris will help strengthen the management, business and philanthropic expertise of the Council.”

Callum Morton has also been reappointed to the Council for a second term of three years.

“As a highly respected contemporary artist, Mr Morton will continue to contribute extensive knowledge of art practice to the Gallery’s collection and programs,” Mr Crean said.

“Mr Morton, who is also Professor of Fine Art at Monash University, has already made a valuable contribution to the Council in his first term as both an artist and academic, helping to build on the reputation and expertise of the Gallery as a leading cultural institution.”
