KIDS will benefit from the last round of community grant funding from the Centenary of Canberra, with an allocation of $50,000 for the Boundless National Children’s Playground.
The project, to be constructed in the Parliamentary Triangle, is an initiative driven by Canberra-based public servants working in a voluntary capacity and with the support of the private sector.
“With the support of the National Capital Authority, a prominent site has been identified close to the National Carillon in Kings Park,” Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said.
“The Boundless playground will be a wonderful gift to Canberra in the Centenary year with a view to the first stage being opened during Children’s Week in October 2013.”
Creative Director for the Centenary of Canberra, Robyn Archer AO, said the Boundless playground would provide an important social, physical and philanthropic legacy for Canberra from the centenary year.
“Through its design, this playground will encourage children to appreciate the strengths each of us brings and will support children in realising their potential,” Ms Archer said.
“This experience will foster attitudes in our children that promote inclusion and foster a more inclusive Australian society.”
