Police target people heading to snow

ACT and NSW police will join forces to target speeding, drink-driving and driver fatigue this long weekend.

From June 8 to 11, police will target drivers heading to the snowfields for the beginning of the ski season.

Acting Supt of Traffic Operations Rod Anderson said it was important that drivers practised safe driving habits to keep our roads safe over the long weekend period.

“Police would encourage everyone to be patient, obey speed limits and take regular breaks to minimise the risk of an incident on our roads,” he said.

“Traditionally long weekends see a higher number of drivers on our roads. Planning your trip and taking turns to drive will make sure everyone gets to their holiday destination and home again safely.”

Last year, ACT police handed out 152 tickets to drivers and test 281 drivers at random breath tests.
