Robbery suspect found in cupboard

A 36-year-old Yarralumla man faces court today accused of  a robbery at Belconnen Markets.

Police said about 9am on Monday, February 6, a man entered the Petbarn store at the Belconnen Markets and requested to use the store’s phone, telling staff he was having difficulties with his car.

After using the phone he told a staff member that he was carrying a gun and demanded they give him cash. The staff member gave him a sum of cash and he left the store.

Police said information from the public led to the identification of the man. Police searched a home in Belconnen yesterday, where they located the offender hiding in a cupboard.

He has been charged with robbery and trespass.
