Say what? A giant condom castle?

IF you’re getting along to this Sunday’s Groovin’ the Moo you may see a giant red condom castle. Hold on – a what?

Yep – that’s correct, the giant red condom castle will be next to the main stage and is part of a campaign from GTM national sponsor YEAH – Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDs.

The castle will be manned by local volunteers, who will be on hand to talk to punters about the facts on sexual health and why increasing awareness is important in the local community.

YEAH CEO Alischa Ross says with a 20 per cent rise in STIs among young people and evidence of the decline in the use of condoms, it is more important than ever to raise awareness about sexual health and prevention.

“Groovin’ the Moo is one of the largest all ages festivals in Australia and the only festival to target young people in regional areas making it a fantastic opportunity for YEAH’s peer educators to promote the message of safe sex and encouraging young people to take ownership of their sexual health,” Ms Ross says.

“With more than 75 per cent of STIs occur among young people, it’s pretty clear to us that we’ve got to do more and that’s why we love working with Groovin’ the Moo to reach out to tens of thousands of young people and spread the message of safe sex in a fun, non-preachy way.

“Everyone at Groovin’ the Moo this Sunday is invited to come down and say hi to our team at the Giant Red Condom Castle right next to the main stage. Come down and spin the ‘Wheely Sexy Wheel’ and test your sexual health knowledge or have a go at a condom denomination or make yourself a condom badge and be proud to ‘wear’ a condom in public.”
