THE $1.12 million upgrade of Scullin shops was launched today by Education Minister and Member for Ginninderra, Chris Bourke (pictured).
Features of the upgrade include new lighting for extra security, street furniture including seats, bins and a community noticeboard, landscaping works, upgrades to paving to improve pedestrian access, improved stormwater drainage, a toilet block and a playground.
There was broad consultation on the upgrade and many suggestions from locals and traders were included in the final design.
Bourke says the upgrade has revitalised the public space, giving locals and traders a safer, more accessible local centre.
In the past three years, the Government has completed upgrades of the Ainslie, Lyons, Garran and Deakin shopping centres.
