Speedster overtakes cops at 71kph over limit

POLICE caught a 49-year-old O’Connor man travelling 71kph over the 60kph limit,  during an early morning traffic operation yesterday. 
About 5.53am the man overtook an unmarked police car at 131kph along the Barton Highway. He faces a fine of $1811 and the loss of six demerit points. 
Police, who are targeting speeding this month,  issued 167 tickets over the two-day, early morning operation. The majority of offences occurred  between 5am and 10am, with six defect notices issued during the operation.
