CANBERRA Dance Development Centre is welcoming back alumnus Sara Black to host workshops this weekend on contemporary technique and choreography as part of the centre’s annual master class program.
Raised in Canberra, Black was a student at CDDC and a member of the Australian Choreographic Centre’s Quantum Leap Youth Dance Company.
In 2005 she completed a Bachelor of Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts, since which he has worked as an independent artist with creators like Narelle Benjamin, Wendy Houstoun, Erna Omarsdottir and former Canberran Cadi McCarthy, as well as with Lucy Guerin Inc, NYID and Chunky Move.
Black was nominated for a Green Room award and awarded a Helpmann Award for Chunky Move’s solo work “Glow” and performed in the Australian Ballet’s season of “Infinity.”
She worked as a choreographic assistant on Melbourne director Michael Kantor’s “Woyzeck” and is a founding member of ROGUE, a dance collective of 2005 graduates of the VCA.
