Teen arrested over alleged triple assault

A 17-year-old boy will face court this morning after allegedly assaulting a police officer, a woman and a pizza delivery driver on Saturday night. 

Around 8.30pm an off duty police officer drove past the Gungahlin McDonalds restaurant and saw the teenager pulling a pizza delivery driver out of his vehicle and allegedly punching him.

The officer managed to pull the teenager off the pizza delivery driver, but he then ran at them both.

A woman who witnessed the initial assault and tried to stop the scuffle was also assaulted by the teenager.

The officer tried to negotiate with the young man but he allegedly punched the officer several times.

Two members of the public who were driving by assisted the officer in restraining the teenager.

He was charged with two counts of assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and will appear before the ACT Children’s Court this morning.
