Theatre with a Big hART

Big hART is back in Canberra with the company’s most famous work, “Ngapartji Ngapartji one” at The Playhouse.

Photographer Greer Versteeg was at the Playhouse yesterday to record her impressions.

The theatrical work was created some year ago by writer Scott Rankin and actor Trevor Jamieson and has undergone many changes, at one time being presented by Jamieson alone.

It narrates the history of Jamieson’s family during the period when atomic bombs were tested over the Maralinga desert, the time also of their first encounter with white Australia.

The presentation here in Canberra uses projection, song from elders of the Ernabella community in SA and also a moment where the audience learn some of the Pitjantjatjara language.

“Ngapartji Ngapartji one”, The Playhouse until July 28. Bookings to 6275 2700 or www.canberraticketing.com.au
