Three teens arrested after early morning pursuit

THREE teenagers have been arrested after a high-speed pursuit across Tuggeranong early this morning.

Around 1.25am, police were called to a burglary at the Gowrie Discount Pharmacy, Gowrie Shops and later a burglary at the Banks Shops on Pockett Avenue.

A witness reported seeing three people leave the Banks shops, carrying a cash register and getting into a white vehicle.

Around 2.30am officers spotted a white Subaru Impreza exit a car park at high speed.  When police attempted to stop the vehicle, it accelerated away and a pursuit began.

The pursuit lasted 18 minutes reaching a top speed of 120 km/h and cut through the suburbs of Wanniassa, Monash, Gowrie, Chisholm, Theodore and Gordon.

Police say at no time was there any danger to members of the public or other road users.

The white Subaru finally came to a complete stop on Woodcock Drive in Gordon. The three occupants inside the vehicle were arrested and taken into custody. Police say the vehicle was stolen from a house in Kambah last Saturday.

The three teenagers, aged 17, 16 and 15, were arrested and charged with driving and riding in a stolen vehicle.

The offenders received bail, and are expected to face the ACT Children’s Court at a later date.
