Women of artistic power

BELCONNEN Arts Centre has invited three women working in the arts in Canberra to lead a discussion on how women make a difference to economic sustainability through the arts.

The artists will be singer and songwriter, Robyn Archer, creative director of Canberra’s Centenary Celebrations, artistic director of QL2 Dance, and winner of the 2011 Ausdance National Award for Services to Dance and the award

for Outstanding Practice in Youth/community Dance,  Ruth Osborne,  and visual artist Vivienne Binns, all of whom are particularly known for their creative inroads into the broader community.

The centre hopes that creative practitioners across all disciplines in Canberra will be able to discuss current ways in which women make a difference in the viability of the arts, in light of this year’s theme for the United Nations International Women’s Day, “Supporting Women’s Economic Empowerment”.

Belconnen Arts Centre presents an artists’ forum for International Women’s Day, Thursday 8 March from 5.30 – 7.30pm. FREE ENTRY (donations will be welcome) but bookings advised to  6173 3300 or email; info@belconnenarstcentre.com.au
