Ainslie man escapes police arrest

A 26-year-old man escaped police arrest after they searched his home and found a number of stolen items.

Around 9.30am officers entered the Ainslie home to execute the search warrant and found the man and another person inside.

During the warrant officers seized numerous items which had been reported stolen from a vehicle in Dickson.

Police arrested the man but as he was being escorted out he struggled with officers and escaped custody.

After a short foot chase the man was caught and taken into custody.

The man has been charged with Theft, Damage Property and Attempt Escape Arrest of Lawful Custody.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning, where police will be opposing bail.
