THE next exhibition at ANCA Gallery in Dickson showcases selected work from demonstrators and delegates to the recent ANU School of Art Ceramics Workshop’s 2nd Print and Clay Symposium.
The Symposium was held on September 7-8 and brought together a diverse range of international, national and local printmakers and ceramicists, as well as students and members of the general public and saw artists work alongside and in collaboration with each other.
The resulting exhibition at ANCA showcases the reworking of traditional techniques and challenges conventional print practices. Readymade cylindrical forms of various heights and widths were provided to Symposium participants. The artists had an opportunity to decorate these forms with printed surfaces – either as individuals or in collaboration with other artists.
The exhibition features the work of over 20 artists.
The local talent includes ceramicists Janet DeBoos, Anita McIntyre, Petra Svoboda and Joanne Searle, and printmaker Patsy Payne. The international line-up includes Kevin Petrie (UK), Stephen Dixon (UK) & Suzanne Wolfe (USA).
“Print and Clay Symposium Exhibition,” at ANCA Gallery 1 Rosevear Place Dickson, 12pm-5pm Wednesday-Sunday from September 18 to Sunday September 29.
Opening by Janet DeBoos, 6pm Wednesday 18 September 18, all welcome.
