Arrest made after married couple overdose

POLICE have arrested a 24-year-old Macgregor man and seized an unspecified quantity of illicit drugs from his home as part of investigations into married couple who both overdosed earlier this week.

Criminal Investigation detectives searched the man’s residence in Macgregor following investigations into the death of a 52-year-old Florey man on Tuesday morning.

The man’s death is suspected to be a result of taking red-and-white capsules with his wife, who was in a stable condition in hospital yesterday.

The 24-year-old man was arrested and charged yesterday afternoon with several drug offences, and scheduled to face ACT Magistrates Court this morning.

Police said they would oppose bail.
