Artists invited to apply for CAPO’s cash

THE Capital Arts Patrons Organisation, CAPO, is 30 years old this year and is now inviting applications from Canberra artists for 14 awards, with values ranging from $500 to $25,000.

CAPO grants support excellence in the arts, significant opportunities for artists to develop their career, and innovative community cultural development projects.

Since its beginnings in 1983, CAPO has awarded in excess of $1.8 million to over 330 artists and arts organisations and last year, 11 grant recipients received support to the value of over $60,000.

In a unique formula, CAPO raises money through business sponsorship and donations, and through its annual art exhibition and auction, where artworks donated by Canberra’s leading and acclaimed artists are on show and for sale.

This year’s gala event, where the recipients of the 2014 grants and awards will be announced, is being held at Canberra Museum and Gallery on November 23.

The full list of awards is below.

An online application form and guidelines are available at capo.org.au/capo-grant-guidelines/  Applications close at midnight on Friday October 25.
