TIME-POOR Canberrans won’t have to venture too far to celebrate Canberra’s birthday next week – neighbourhood parties will be held at local shops around the city.
Twenty “Parties at the Shops” events will run on March 12, aimed at connecting communities, showcasing local talent, and celebrating the unique personalities of Canberra’s suburbs.
Producer of Parties at the Shops Amy Moon says Canberra’s suburban shops are the “perfect place” to celebrate the Centenary.
“[They’re] an extraordinary part of the city’s landscape, the heart of local communities,” she says.
‘You can experience a dazzling evening of film, burlesque, music and photography at O’Connor, a milk crate café and DJ set alongside changing leaves in Latham, backyard cricket, music and kid’s activities in Scullin, or be serenaded at a 3-course banquet under the stars in Yarralumla. And that’s just a few of the events!”
The day time program includes parties at Waramanga, Kambah, Hackett, Garran, Curtin, Dickson, Isabella Plains and Hughes. For the full list visit canberra100.com.au/.
