Child assaulted at Belconnen Library, witnesses sought

POLICE are investigating a report of a young child being assaulted inside the Belconnen Library today and asking for any witnesses to come forward.

Police afp copsPolice were called at about 1.30pm, after being told that a man had left the library shortly after being found in a corner with a young child.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’ 7” (170cm) tall, aged in his mid-30s to early 40s, with dark-coloured skin and a short beard. He was wearing a very loose-fitting tracksuit.

Anyone who was in the library at the time or can assist with the investigation can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
