Coastal love affair in art

CANBERRA’S love affair with the south coast continues at Belconnen Arts Centre in “The Road to the Coast,” art works by Anna Buck, Jan Collingridge, Louella McPaul, Jane Murphy, Georgia Partridge, Anneke Paijmans, Donna Ransom and Jan Ridgway, but you’ll have to be quick- it closes on Sunday.

Every year, Canberrans make the journey by road to the southern corner of the state. The history of the road is written in sweeping plains, steep bends, middens, wildlife, bridges, rainforest gullies, pie and petrol stops and, finally, the first glimpse of the ocean.

In this show, 8 “Far South Coast” artists interpret the journey and express the links of past and present that connect Canberra and the coast.

The work in this exhibition has been inspired by the theme of “Milestones,” this year’s theme of the Canberra and Region Heritage Festival.

“The Road to the Coast,” at  Belconnen Arts Centre, 118 Emu Bank, Belconnen, 10:00am – 5:00pm until May 5.
