Curiosity written into Helen’s fine art

WITH A career spanning 35 years, Helen Aitken-Kuhnen is celebrated across the fields of metal, glass and enamel.

The work she creates is firmly grounded in her immediate surroundings and her love of the Australian landscape and its birdlife.

In a new exhibition opening tonight, “Connected Diversity/From Land to Sea,” Aitken-Kuhnen presents alongside earlier pieces, a new body of work which explores her transition from living inland to the coast.

The eminent glass artist Klaus Moje, has written of her, “Curiosity is written into Helen’s face, her life, her work and the way she looks at her fellow human beings. Curiosity — yes, but curiosity paired with a clear understanding of a goal. Helen opens new doors without the ballast of tradition, but with respect for achievements of the past.”

Accompanying the exhibition will be the launch of Aitken-Kuhnen’s monograph, “Connected Diversity,” in which she documents her career over the last 35 years. across the fields of metal, glass and enamel. A limited edition ‘Book and Brooch’ set will also be available.
