Dazzling display of youthful talent

IN WHAT promises to be a dazzling display of youthful talent, members of a  talented Yass family, Lauren, Ruth, Samuel and Sarah Giddy will today, Wednesday October 9, perform in a piano concert from 12.40 to 1.20pm as part of the popular “Wednesday Lunchtime Live” at Wesley Music Centre.

The program will include works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Chopin, Debussy, Villa-Lobos and Mozart.

The four  Giddy children are talented pianists who also perform as a string quartet and are part of a student orchestra in Cootamundra.

Lauren, aged 18,  plays the piano, viola and pipe organ and is now preparing for her CMusA.

Ruth, aged 16,  plays the piano and violin, and is preparing to sit her AMusA piano exam later this month. She  was joint winner of the 18 years and under piano championship at the Australian National Eisteddfod this year.

Samuel, aged 14,  plays the piano, organ and cello. In 2012 he was winner of the Junior and Intermediate sections of the Sydney Organ Competition.

Lauren, Ruth and Samuel have all received musical scholarships from the ACT Clavier School, and Ruth and Samuel also hold scholarships from the Yass Music Club.

Sarah, aged 12, also plays the violin, has gained high distinction in three piano exams, and is now preparing for fourth grade under the tuition of Grace Wong.
